## Thesis

People weren't asking me for my looks, they were asking for what I had lived through. Once I saw that, I stopped trying to build a "Furkan" and started writing as I am, because nothing matters more than being yourself.

## Summary

## Before

I had been making content for years. On YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn. Since 2021 it was all in English. On my Startup Guy channel I mostly explained a concept or told someone else's story.

Kemal and I shot Bence Böyle, 8-10 episodes. Before that we had a podcast called Girişenler Kulübü. The concept was good but it felt like a lecture. I also had to edit everything myself and it took forever. At some point we stopped.

## What I noticed

People liked sitting down and talking with me. They were about to start a business, decide something about a relationship, pick a university, buy a house or a car. They called me.

I thought about why they asked me. It wasn't about my looks. I have a lot of life experience, and they asked so they wouldn't have to go through it the hard way. That's when I saw my experience had value.

At 19, a decision to get married forced me to become an entrepreneur. When I sat down to write it all out, it filled pages of A4: e-commerce, marketplaces, freelancing, selling abroad, building a team, hiring, going under, 10 years of marriage, 2 kids.

## This time

In August I tried it on Threads. I wrote whatever I thought and felt. Sharing my experience without serving any goal felt good. Then I wrote threads, both my experiences and my analyses. I saw it was useful.

The biggest difference: I'm not trying to build a "Furkan". If you ran into me outside, you'd get the same conversation. You might not like me, you might appreciate me, I might annoy you. That used to affect me a lot. It doesn't anymore, and that opened up a huge space of freedom.

In the last 90 days my posts on Threads were viewed millions of times, and some LinkedIn posts passed hundreds of thousands. I didn't do anything extra. I just saw the value of what I had lived through.

In October I set myself a consistency goal to post every day. When it's done I'll take about a month off, then keep going.

Nothing matters more than being yourself.
